New Mission

UNITED WAY OF MARATHON COUNTY HAS REVEALED AN UPDATED MISSION STATEMENT

Wednesday morning, the team from United Way of Marathon County, led by Executive Director, Jeff Sargent, and Board President, Shanna Yonke, announced a new mission statement and updated goals.
UNITING TO THRIVE replaced the previous mission that hasn’t been updated since 2014. The new mission is broad to allow all people to see themselves as fitting in, whether they’re a donor, a volunteer, a community partner, or a staff member.

Following a three-year strategic planning process, interrupted by a pandemic, the team will ensure donor dollars are being used to make meaningful change. United Way will focus on the stability of community members with a BOLD GOAL of lifting 10,000 community members to financial stability by 2033.

“Over the last three years, the United Way Board and staff have worked diligently to ensure the sustainability of the United Way’s support for our community. We identified the most pressing issues in our community, solicited stakeholder input on United Way’s role in addressing those issues, and developed a thoughtful plan to lead transformative change. We are excited to unveil our bold goal to the community and lead the effort to achieve it,” said Shanna Yonke, United Way of Marathon County Board President.

Funded partners will not see a change in the funding cycle until 2024 at the earliest and a new Request for Proposal will be released in 2023. Workplace campaigns are the largest portion of United Way funding, and all dollars are utilized locally.
